Lily had just ran into Potter again, for who knew how many times that day. Why did he insist on bothering her? Didn't she make it clear enough she wasn't interested? She had told Remus to tell Potter to back off, but apparently he didn't listen to his best friends either.

Remus was a close friend of Lily's, well one of them Severus Snape was her best friend, period. He had told her all about who she was, and never seemed to judge her. She knew him before Hogwarts. Of course Lily had plenty of friends. She was quite popular amoung her peers, and everyone knew James Bloody Potter had an eye on her, and knew Lily Evans turned him down everyday of her life.

At least Potter was gone for now. Maybe she could go find Severus? She could talk to him about anything and he always seemed to want to listen, but no, Lily had work to do. She didn't have time to socialize not until her work was done for all her classes. Well, not really it wasn't due tomorrow.

It was good she was going to the library Potter would never set his nose in there, no he wasted his talents bothering people...he was so arrogant. Lily rolled her eyes at the thought. Why couldn't Potter take lessons from oh say his best friend Remus Lupin? Who actually had his head rightly attached unlike his other friend Sirius Black. Potter and Black...no words could ever describe the trouble those two endured on a daily basis.

The two alone had set detention records at Hogwarts and they were proud of doing so. Idiots. Lily thought. She continued down the corridors and smiled at the students she passed and said hello back when she was greeted.

Lily then realized Remus was supposed to be helping Potter with something, and would be doing so at the library. She just couldn't win with him could she? Maybe she could go to the astronomy tower, it was beautiful up there and quiet. Potter was probably too lazy to walk all the up there anyhow and he was too busy trying to learn at the moment. No, not a good idea either people liked to snog up there at this time.

Frustrated Lily headed back to Gryffindor tower. Maybe too many people wouldn't be in there? She really hated to study with so much conversing going on. Or she could do her work the next day being it wasn't due? Yeah, she wasn't in the mood to drown herself in studies now. She rather chat with someone from her house, she needed to relax a bit, even her professors told her she didn't need to be so serious about her school work all the time.

Lily couldn't help it, she had to prove she was good enough, because some students didn't think she was a worthy witch because her blood was tainted.

Lily finally made it into the common room, to her surprise it was fairly dead, only a few students were inside, well four to be exact but three were leaving together, so that left Lily with a sixth year girl who Lily immediately recognized as Stephanie Puzey, a girl a year ahead of her. They were pretty good friends, she may not have been as close as she was too Severus or maybe Remus and a few other's but she trusted the girl nonetheless.

Lily had her books in her hand and dropped them on the table, she would look through them later, she still wasn't in the mood to study. Lily took a seat across from Stephanie. "Hey" Lily said with a smile. "Getting away from everything a while?" Lily asked knowing it was good to just relax every once and a while.

Stephanie had been staring into space for some time now. She had been seated at a table, back to the room, listening to the conversation behind her. Three third year girls had been gibbering amongst themselves for Merlin only knew how long, about Sirius Black. From the sounds of it, Mr. Black had smiled at one the three, and it had made her exceedingly giddy, and obnoxious. Thankfully, the girls voices wer moving away. Probably out to harass the poor boy, she thought, shaking her head in disgust. She herself, could not deny that the boy was attractive, but looks were the only thing he had going for him. Sirius was crude, brash, loud, promiscuous, and definitely not boyfriend material. She loved hanging out with the marauders, and lending a helping hand where needed in a good prank, but they seemed to have their mischief managed.

Suddenly, a sweet, familiar voice rent the air, followed by the thud of heavy books landing on the wooden table. Stephanie jumped slightly at the sudden sound, and watched as fiery red hair swung into her field of vision. Lily Evans now sat adjacent to her, smiling kindly. "Getting away from everything a while?" she asked. Nodding, Stephanie replied, “More like waiting for that noise to get away from me.” She laughed, twitching her head over her shoulder at the gaggle of gigglers that was just leaving. She rolled her eyes to express the exasperation she felt towards the little girls. “Apparently, just a look from Mr. Black makes the blonde one’s knees go weak.” She added, in a mock interested tone. She had be careful talking like this. Some people mistook her sarcasm for disgust, and she hardly ever aimed to offend.

Stephanie and Lily had been friends for about two years now. As Stephanie entered her 4th year, she had just finished a 12-week program at St. Mungo’s Substance Abuse Rehabilitation facility in London. Her orders from her therapist, Dr. Tyler McKinnen, had been to throw herself into schoolwork, and try to make some female friends. Stephanie had met Lily in a study group, and they had hit it off. Being a year older had never made much of a difference, except for the fact that she had come to view Lily as sort of a younger sister. Nothing had ever cropped up(except telling off Potter for her, who always stick his nose where he wasn’t welcome) to force Stephanie to look out for Lily, but she had no trouble imagining herself doing so.

Lily was one of the few females Stephanie enjoyed associating with. She hated the giggling cliques of girls that roamed the halls, flirting shamelessly, and stabbing timid girls in the backs. She hated the façade of friendship that the whole society offered. She preferred the company of males, which was always inviting to an attractive outgoing female, or to be by herself. “I am my best companion” was the motto she had learned and adapted to her life. If she couldn’t deal with her problems or herself, who else would?

Gazing at Lily, she smiled, looking at the pile of books that layer awry on the tabletop. “Planning to do some studying?” she asked. She knew that Potter was not in the common room, so perhaps the girl was seeking refuge. Time had proven though, that if Lily did not either keep on the move, or retire to the girls dormitory, James would show up. He seemed to hunt her as if she were a fox, and he were a hound. It was as though he sniffed her out at times. He must not rest until he’s asked her out at least 4 times, she thought to herself.

Lily noticed who the three girls were, third year girls. She had tutored them on numerous occasions and could see why they needed her assitance in the first place. All they had asked her was why she wouldn't date Potter and what she thought of his friend Black. On and on, it had drove Lily mad and she remembered telling Mcgonagall to find someone else to tutor them.

They really had gotten on her nerves, it wasn't anyone's business who and who she didn't hang out with, witch of course they had brought Severus into the picture asking why she was friends with him. Why did people have to be so judgemental? That was one reason why her and Potter were not friends, plus many more of course.

"Yeah they are.....uh...interesting.." Lily said she didn't really want to say anything mean about her own house but those girls were intolerably irking to say the least. She couldn't stand people like them. Who did the majority of their time gossiping abot so and so. Talking about the current cutest boy, and all that. Didn't people have anything with any intelligence to say these days?

Lily smiled at Stephanies sarcasm and also rolled her eyes at the thought. "Ugggh I don't know what anyone sees in Black he is almost as bad as Potter, idiots I tell you, wasting their potential on tormenting other people!" Lily said she really hated the fact Potter and Black were quite brilliant students but wasted their talents on other things. Wasted Potential, shameful.

Lily had met Stephanie in her third year, Lily had joined a study group, along with a few other students and Stephanie had helped her get a little ahead but the two girl had studied so well together, they ended up being study buddies and then friends. For the most part she could trust Stephanie with her secrets but she may not have told her everything, well Lily didn't like to tell people her problems much anyhow, so it really wasn't anything against Stephanie.

She really was like an older sister to Lily though, and she also saw through Potter like she did unlike most girls in their school. Except for Slytherin's but that was entirely biased judgement.

Lily looked up as she asked if she was plannin on doing studying. "No Remus is tutoring Potter in the library, and I really didn't feel like doing it in here, but it's not due for two days, I guess it won't kill me to wait one day until I do an assigment." Everyone knew Lily was like the exact opposite of a procrastinator. She would do her assigment the very minute she had a chance and wouldn't stop until it was done, but she was too annoyed to focus on work today. Potter had made her even madder than usual "Stupid Potter" Lily muttered under her breath thinkinh outloud.

Stephanie smiled as Lily mentioned Potter. The last 4 years had been a struggle for poor Lily. She had been forced to attempt to keep James at an arms length at all times. Potter had been relentlessly pursuing her since about the middle of Lily’s 1st year. Stephanie often wondered if the whole obsession hadn’t been started by Potter’s hate of the Snape, the Slytherin that Lily seemed to trust. Stephanie didn’t really pester Lily about the boy. She did not particularly hate the Slytherins, and who Lily decided to invest trust in was her own business. From what she could tell, Snape was simply a quiet Slytherin who seemed to have a knack for potions, and had therefore, never been at odds with him. Perhaps Potter started pursuing Lily in an effort to anger Snape, but, as time wore on, began to actually like the girl. However it had happened, or for what reasons, Stephanie didn’t know. All she could tell was that Potter could pose to be quite a nuisance when Lily was present.

In that case,” she said, laughing at Lily’s slash on Potter, “I can see why you avoided the Library. Remus isn’t bad, but Madame Pince would have likely given both yourself and Potter detention for the noise he would make upon seeing you.” She added with a grin. It was one thing for a boy to chase a girl. It could actually be quite flattering. It was completely different when one went about it the way James did. The boy simply had no tact in the matter. He always chose an ill-opportune time and place to press himself upon her, not to mention the way he went about it. He was loud, brash, and sometimes crude. Some people may find those traits appealing or endearing, but Lily obviously did not.

So you’ve only arrived to keep me company, hmmm?” she asked jokingly. “I can’t say I’ll be all that entertaining, but I can prove to be a safer companion then Potter.” She said with a wink. Glancing around the empty common room, and out the closed window, she got to her feet. Making her way out around the table, she moved to the window beside Lily. Opening it and gazing down to the grounds below, she smiled as the cool breeze kissed her face gently. The common room had been stuffy, and a little over-warm. Turning, she returned to her previous seat on the bench, across from Lily. “Sorry, I was getting a little warm.” She said, nodding to the window, and fanning herself with her hand. “Besides Hiding from Potter, what are your plans for the rest of the day?” she asked, glad for the now open window.

It was true Potter had made her life miserable the past four years. He was a life ruiner. Not to be so over dramatic but he really was. He was mean and immature. He played pranks on people, especially for her best friend Severus. What had he done to him? Potter was so judgmental he really made her sick. Why did he have to be like he was? Not to mention him and his relentless pursuit to win the adoration of her, Lily Evans. She wasn't interested; did she need to spell it out for the poor dolt?

As far as Snape she did trust him, he was her truest and closet friend. He was the one who was there when Petunia decided to be nasty. She remembered one night in their summer before their second year. She and Petunia had gotten into the worst fight ever. Lily had left the room that they shared and made her way outside where she found Severus. He never wanted to be home. He never flat out told her but she knew. It wasn't pleasant.

She had laid right next to him. They started looking up at the stars and had dared each other to count each and every one of them. She remembered they had held hands as they tried to count the stars in the sky. Eventually falling asleep right their next to each other. She loved all the times they spent together.

"Well of course Remus isn't that bad he actually has some sense but apparently, Potter doesn't have enough to learn from his friends" Lily did wonder why Remus was friends with Potter and Black in the first place, what could Potter possibly do to make him such a great friend?

"I just don't understand what Remus sees in Potter, and he worries me" Lily said thinking of how Remus was ill an awful lot. "I mean Remus sure is ill quite often, haven't you noticed?" Lily asked wondering if she was just crazy, well she did spend a good time with Remus, so maybe she noticed more than others?

"Oh yes came here especially for you" Lily said with a smile then gazed at the fire a moment. She had a lot of thoughts dancing through her head, and now she was thinking of Remus more and more. He really was a mystery to her maybe she should have a talk with him?

They were supposed to be good friends, she hoped he would tell her what was up with him. Lily smiled as she went to open the window. "Yeah it is; not to mention the fire is going as well" Lily looked over at it again and then back to Stephenie. "Oh nothing just time to do nothing I suppose". Lily said with a shrug.
